BOYS BASKETBALL: Gabe Levin likes to show up early for games. He showed up early and often Saturday, scoring 19 points to lead Oak Park-River Forest to a 58-35 victory against Lyons Township in a West Suburban Silver contest. The victory avenged a 65-53 loss to the Lions on January 13th and kept the Huskies in first place in the conference.

Fenwick didn’t let a little rust prevent six of its wrestlers from moving on to state sectional action after victories in Saturday’s Class 2A St. Patrick Regional. Three of the six Friars who advanced to the Grayslake Central Sectional, which begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday and continues at 10 a.m. Saturday, have had limited time on the mat this season because of various surgeries, but they came out strong against some tough regional opponents and continue on their run to make it to the state tournament in Champaign. Maybe it was the new Fastskins swimwear or the fact that the championship season has arrived, but the Fenwick boys swimming team made a big leap last weekend with its first Metro Catholic Aquatics Conference championship since 2005.
