Chess Open Play: 5:30-9 p.m. Mondays. Open play, all ages, all skill levels. Drop in when you can.

Library Art Gallery: See Janice Elkins' paintings on exhibit through April 29.

Art Gallery Exhibit: May 2. Oil paintings by Nancy Fong will be exhibited through May 30. A reception for the artist will be held Sunday, May 15

Preschool Playgroup: 10-11 a.m. April 28 at Maze Branch. Open playtime for preschoolers with toys, puzzles, puppets and music.

Family Open Storytime: 10:30-11 a.m. April 28 at Dole Branch. Storytime for children 2- to 6-years old.

"Yarns and Yarn": 2-3:30 p.m. April 28 at Dole Branch. A group of avid readers who meet to discuss books while they knit and crochet blankets and scarves to donate to the needy. No knitting experience needed. All are welcome.

Kids' Drop-in Craft: Don't Bug Me!: 4-5 p.m. April 28 at Dole Branch. Make a felt bracelet for your favorite buggy friend. Best for ages 4 and up. No registration.

Computer Class: 7-9 p.m. April 28. "Digital Photosharing." Have you ever want to share your photos online but did not know how? This class will show you how to use Flikr, a free photo sharing website that will help you organize, view, edit and share your digital photos. Please note: You must have a Yahoo account to photo share (get one at yahoo.com). You also must bring your own photographs on a flash drive, not a camera, in order to participate in this class. The library cannot download from cameras.

Computer Help: 2-4 p.m. April 29 at Dole Branch. Free, one-on-one computer help with basic questions, from searching the Internet to posting a resume online; 30-minute drop-in sessions.

Drop-In Study Session: 1-7 p.m. May 1. Studying for the big AP exams coming up? For help with the tough questions, study as a group, indulge in some brain food, and chat one-on-one with your own personal reference librarian.

Film Showing: 2-5 p.m. May 1. Co-sponsored by the Oak Park Coalition for Truth and Justice.

Wonderful Ones Story Time: 10:30-11 a.m. May 2 at Maze Branch. For children 12-24 months.

Toddler Playgroup: 10-11 a.m. May 3 at Dole Branch. For children up to 24 months, with a caregiver.

Mother's Day Gift Workshop: 4-5 p.m. May 3. Looking for that special something to give Mom? Come to this free drop in program where tweens and teens will decorate a vase and fill it with handmade flowers.

Great Decisions 2011: 7 p.m. May 3. Series of discussions about international issues, concludes at the end of May. Join the group for one or both remaining topics. The topic for May 3 (at the Main Library) and May 5 (at the Maze Branch) is "The Caucasus." Co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Oak Park and River Forest. Briefing books for sale.

Computer Class: 9:30-11:30 a.m. May 4. "Basic Computer Skills for Beginners." This is a two-part class. Second part May 11.

Family Open Story Time: 10:30-11:30 a.m. May 4 at Maze Branch. Story time for 2- to 6-year-olds.

After School Snack: 2-3:30 p.m. May 4 at Dole Branch. Every Wednesday kids are invited to share, play and explore their talents and interests. Celebrate Cinco De Mayo. No registration required.

Cinco de Mayo, Rice-a-Raca Story Time: 4-5 p.m. May 4 at Maze Branch. Get ready for the Mexican holiday by reading books about Mexican and Mexican-American culture, making Rice-A-Raca sound shakers, dancing and practicing your Spanish-speaking skills. Best for ages 4-6. No registration required.

Open Boardgame Play: 6:30-9 p.m. May 4. Open game play on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Bring your own board games or just bring yourself.

Your Toughest Questions Answered: 3-4 p.m. May 5. Are you concerned about your ability to land job interviews due to employment gaps or excessive job changes? Do you expect to have a hard time explaining to a prospective employer that you were fired from your last job? Many job seekers face these obstacles at some point during their professional career. Participants will learn how to field these and other tough career questions. This is the first of three in the Tutor.com career webinar series.

PlanItGreen Forum: 7 p.m. May 5. Forum with Gary Cuneen, director of Seven Generations Ahead.

Container Gardening: 7 p.m. May 5 at Dole Branch. It's time to inventory your flower pots and get inspired with Theresa Kyriazes, Oak Park Conservatory Head Grower. She will provide tips for putting together eye-catching container gardens. She will also discuss the plants available this year at the Conservatory plant sale on Mother's Day week-end.
