Oak Park Police Blotter for March 14, 2013

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Oak Park Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

ROBBERY

Jesse A. Guzman, Jr., 20, of the 1600 block of 50th Court, Cicero, was arrested at his residence at 7:50 p.m. March 6, and charged with the robbery of a cell phone from a Cicero woman on the 1100 block of South Harvey Avenue on Feb. 15.

BURGLARY

Kent Temple, 49, was arrested on the 5800 block of West Roosevelt Road at 11:16 a.m. March 4 and charged with burglary. Police say Temple was observed removing lawn chairs from a garage on the 1100 block of South Humphrey Avenue. He was also held on a DuPage County warrant for battery. Temple was ordered held on no-bond status to await his next court date.

THEFT

Carl Carter, 50, of the 900 block of North Austin Boulevard, Chicago, was arrested inside the Community Bank, 1001 W. Lake St., at 4:39 p.m. March 5. Police called to the bank on a suspicious person report say Carter was found in possession of a wallet and identification that had been stolen in Lyons earlier that day.

DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

Tyler R. Reilly, 18, of the 100 block of Marengo, Forest Park, was stopped on the 300 block of South Kenilworth Avenue at 10:55 p.m. March 6, for riding without headlights. Police say Reilly, who was “fidgety and nervous,” had a small pipe and a small quantity of marijuana in his pocket. Reilly was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as obstruction because he is accused of destroying any evidence of the marijuana. He was ordered held in lieu of bond.

ALCOHOL

Octavious L. Griffin, 34, of the 4900 block of West Potomac, Chicago, was stopped on the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard at 1:13 a.m. March 9 for allegedly running a red light. Griffin was arrested after the officer reportedly smelled a strong odor of alcohol and determined Griffin’s drivers license was suspended. Due to the suspension, he was charged with aggravated DUI.

Jose Jaramillo-Flores, 54, of the 100 block of North Humphrey Avenue was arrested at 3:40 p.m. March 10, after a traffic crash on the 300 block of South Austin Boulevard. Police charged Jaramillo-Flores, who they said smelled strongly of alcohol, with aggravated DUI.

BATTERY

D’Angelo C. Smith, 18, of the 3300 block of West 19th Street, Chicago, and an Oak Park boy, were arrested on the 900 block of North Boulevard at 3:53 p.m. March 9 and charged with battery. They are accused of punching and kicking a Joliet man about the head and body.

Anthony Johnson, 26, of the 900 block of North Boulevard, was arrested at his residence at 8:10 p.m. March 4, and charged with domestic battery. Johnson is accused of grabbing a woman by both arms and pushing her during an argument, causing bruises.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

Duane R. Adams, 42, of the 800 block of Lake Street, was arrested at 4:13 p.m. March 5 following questioning by police and charged with harassment by telephone. Adams is accused of calling an Oak Park resident repeatedly, despite being told not to call back.
