Oak Park police blotter for Jan. 17, 2013

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Oak Park Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
THEFT
Rafeal Marin-Chavez, 30, of the 1700 block of Maple, Elgin, was arrested at 9:05 p.m. Jan. 8 at his home and charged with theft. Police allege that he was part of a team that stole a quantity of liquor from the Jewel Store, 7128 W. Roosevelt Road while working on an overnight cleaning crew in November.
Lloyd Ingram, 47, of the 100 block of North Mayfield, Chicago, was arrested at 12:42 p.m. Jan. 6 at the CVS Pharmacy, 345 Madison, after allegedly stealing items from the store and resisting arrest. Ingram, who was reportedly paroled from prison in April from a previous retail theft conviction, was ordered held in lieu of $40,000 bond and has a Jan. 25 court date.
Emanuel Ocasio, 26, of the 2600 block of West Cermak Road, Chicago; and Victor X. Cales, 38, of the 5300 block of West Parker, Chicago, were arrested at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 12 on the 300 block of Madison Street and charged with retail theft. Police say they stole various personal hygiene products. Ocasio was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bond.
Diane E. Wynn, 45, of the 1400 block of North Central Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 11:33 a.m. Jan. 10 on the 400 block of North Taylor Avenue and charged with retail theft from a 7-Eleven store. Due to a Cook County bond forfeiture warrant for retail theft, she was ordered held on a no bond status and had a court date scheduled for Jan. 17.
Jesse L. Lane, 41, of the 4800 block of West Fulton, Chicago, was arrested at 2:55 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Dominicks store, 259 Lake St., and charged with retail theft. Police say Lane stole medications valued at $878. He was ordered held in lieu of $5,000 bond and has a Jan. 18 court date.
BATTERY
Luisito Navarro, 48, of the 1100 block of South Gunderson was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 10 and charged with aggravated battery and a hate crime after he allegedly punched a 13-year-old Cicero boy and called him a racial slur. Police say Navarro called the boy names as the boy and a friend were kicking a box down an alley. Police reported that the boy responded by throwing a bag of sunflower seeds at Navarro, which reportedly prompted Navarro to chase the boy, and punched him in the face.
An Oak Park boy was arrested at 4 p.m. Jan. 11 on the 100 block of North Euclid Avenue after he allegedly punched another boy in the face. He was processed and released to his mother.
Elisabeth Schaffrath, 45, of the 100 block of South Taylor Avenue was arrested at her home at 3:33 p.m. Jan. 13 and charged with domestic battery. Police say she punched a man on the side of the face, breaking his glasses and causing a contusion.
Two 15-year-old Chicago males were arrested at 8:21 p.m. Jan. 13 on the 100 block of Madison and charged with battery. According to police, they allegedly punched and kicked a Chicago man who was walking on the 100 block of Madison.
Demetrius C. Jones, 19, of the 200 block of Lake Street was arrested at his home at 10:10 a.m. Jan. 12 and charged with domestic battery. Police say he allegedly punched his aunt in the face, causing swelling.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Donzell McKinzie, 29, of the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard was arrested on the 400 block of North Austin and charged with criminal damage to property. Police say he allegedly kicked in the glass of the front door of Unity Foods, 416 N. Austin Blvd. According to police, McKinzie started throwing merchandise around the store after an argument over the price of a cigar.
Douglas J. Kurtenbach, 50, of the 1000 block of Franklin, River Forest, was arrested on the 800 block of North Boulevard after he allegedly attempted to drive his car away despite it being booted by the village of Oak Park, damaging the device.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
Samuel J. Flores, 22, of the 1800 block of S. 9th Avenue, Maywood, was arrested at 9:36 a.m. Jan. 8 at the Forest Park Police Department on a warrant for criminal trespass in Oak Park. He was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bond.
A Chicago boy was arrested at 5 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Oak Park Library, 834 Lake St., after he allegedly returned to the property after being warned not to.
