OAK PARK — The Oak Park Public Library has announced Director Deirdre Brennan will resign her post Dec. 31.

Brennan will leave to become executive director of the Reaching Across Illinois Library System, the library said in a written statement Tuesday night.

The library said trustees will begin searching for a replacement at a special meeting Nov. 12.

Brennan was with the library six years, it said, and helped diversify programming and engage the community.

“Thanks, in large part to (Brennan’s) leadership, we have a lot to be proud of,” Board President Lane Hart said in the statement. “We’re a four-star library, and a member of SWAN, offering more than 1 million items to our cardholders. Just last month, the library was honored for its high service ratings by the National Citizens Survey.”
