The death of an Oak Park man killed after jumping out of a moving vehicle on the Dan Ryan Expressway Saturday on the South Side has been ruled a suicide.
The passenger —identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as 55-year-old Timothy Kreiss -- jumped or fell out of the vehicle about 4:30 p.m. Saturday as it traveled north in the express lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Timothy Tippet said.
A Sunday autopsy determined Kreiss, of 326 N. Ridgeland Ave. in Oak Park, died of multiple injuries from jumping from a moving vehicle, according to the medical examiner’s office. The death was ruled a suicide.
The driver stopped shortly thereafter and remained on the scene, Tippet said.
Kreiss was pronounced dead at 4:57 p.m. Saturday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The express lanes were closed until almost 6 p.m. as State Police investigated.
