Thatcher Woods Pavilion to get facelift

Updated: February 27, 2012 8:46AM

Thatcher Woods Pavilion, near Thatcher Road and Chicago Avenue, will be renovated to make it more accessible to the public.

Starting this winter, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County will begin work on the pavilion, officials announced Tuesday.

“We’re just trying to get it open to the public again,” said Jim Havlat of the Forest Preserve District.

The structure has been in disrepair for some time, now.

The scope of the work includes adding insulation to the roof, making the restrooms ADA compliant, installing new heating and air conditioning, and replacing doors and windows.

In all, the project will cost some $925,000, Havlat said, and should be completed by the end of the year.
