Bridemaids set the tone

What about bridesmaids? Their dresses, second only to the bride’s in importance, are another expression of the bride’s style.
“Brides aren’t afraid to make a statement with their girls’ dresses. Prints are a great way to set the tone for the wedding itself. In terms of dress silhouettes, we’ve seen an influx of one-shoulder options, a sophisticated spin on more predictable strapless looks,” says Shannon Ridgeway, district marketing director of Westfield Old Orchard.
Annette Hebel at Doris Bridal Boutique in Highwood finds that the fun party dress is replacing the bridesmaid dress. She’s selling a lot of shorter dresses, and finds that charcoal is the new black.
Rachel Avila at Avail & Company in Evanston notes that pastel neutrals — pale pink, peach, peachy-beige, mint green and dove gray — are top choices. She added that brides often will designate a dress color and fabric, then each bridesmaid chooses a style that best suits her. That way, women who love their dresses will be able to wear them for yet another happy occasion.
