Free film ‘Waterloo’
Sept. 14 at OP Arms

Oak Park Arms presents its series “You Be the Critic” at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave. The 1970 film “Waterloo” will be shown and reviewed with radio announcer Dan Kane.

Makin’ Tracks
Race helps WSSRA

Local runners and walkers are invited to get fit, have fun and raise money for West Suburban Special Recreation Association by entering the annual Community Bank Makin’ Tracks 5K Race/ Walk at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Concordia University, 7400 Augusta, River Forest.

Blessing of the Animals Sept. 15

A Blessing of the Animals will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Unity Church of Oak Park, 405 N. Euclid Ave., Oak Park. Bring your companion animals (on a leash or in a carrier) to this special service. Meet in the parking lot near the Meditation Garden (or in Friendship Hall if it is raining). Tennis event for
Children’s Hospital

Loyola University Health System will host its fourth annual tennis tournament from 12:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Oak Park Tennis Club, 544 N. Harlem Ave., in River Forest, in support of clinical research for children. The yearly event raises money for research efforts at the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital at Loyola University Medical Center.

Admission fee: $50 for nonstudent participants; $30 for student participants.

RF church celebrates
Oktoberfest Sept. 23

Oktoberfest will be celebrated beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Grace Lutheran Church, 7300 W. Division St., River Forest.

Performing at this year’s event is the Youth Group of the Chicago Society of Danube Swabians. Proceeds of the event will go to Grace Lutheran School and Boy Scout Troop 66.

These awards honor those who demonstrate significant philanthropic impact in Oak Park-River Forest. There are three categories for award nomination — Individual, Business or Organization and Youth.
