Brookfield Zoo is a great place to spend time in Winter particularly on FREEze Day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at First Avenue and 31st Street. As the capital letters indicate, admission is free that day. Special cold-weather entertainment is planned.

“We work with the Green Valley Dog Drivers, a local club out of Lemont, that uses all kinds of dogs to show how dogs can pull sleds and work in the snow,” said Ken Grzeslo, onsite marketing assistant manager. “They demonstrate how they harness the dogs to the sleds. They talk about the different kinds of sleds they use.”

Grzeslo noted that club members play games with the kids and talk about their dogs — most of which were adopted from shelters. FREEze Day activities run whether it snows or not.

“The event brings out a lot of families who love dogs,” Grzeslo said.

In addition, there will be an Eagle Chat at 11 a.m.
