Your kids won’t be jealous when you leave to ring in 2013 without them if you first bring them to the Park District of Franklin Park’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Celebration, noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at the Community Center, 9560 Franklin Ave.

“We’re going to have entertainment, music, dancing, an official balloon drop and a countdown,” Program Manager Phyllis Schmidt said.

Everyone will get noisemakers and New Year’s hats and participate in a toast to the New Year with sparkling grape juice — a new experience for the youngest partygoers. Pizza and other refreshments will be served.

“We also have a New Year’s Resolution Tree,” Schmidt said. “All the children can write down what their New Year’s resolution is and hang it up on the tree.”

The cost is $10 for residents, $15 for nonresidents. Preregistration is required and a parent must stay with their child at the event.
