1. Taste of Melrose Park, 5 p.m. Friday
The family-friendly event includes live entertainment for all ages, fireworks, 40 arts and crafts booths, kids carnival and twice as many food booths as the Taste of Chicago. 2. Labor Day Family Camp, 8 a.m. Friday
Take the family out for a weekend camping experience at YMCA’s Camp Duncan. Swimming, boating, fishing, blobbing, high ropes climbing, games, archery and campfires are just some of the activities that will be available for families to participate in. Each family gets their own cabin and food is served for each meal. Camp runs from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. 3. Guided Bicycle Tour, 9:30 a.m. Friday
Explore the historic Oak Park neighborhoods on a guided bicycle tour of 22 structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Sites include Wright’s Home and Studio, Unity Temple, Frank Thomas House, Heurtley House, Cheney House, Furbeck House and more. Greenline Wheels, 105 S. Marion St., Oak Park. $30-$35.

4. Park Ridge VFW Annual Corn Boil, 11 a.m. Monday

5. The Concert Series Model Stranger, 7:30 p.m. Friday

6. Dinner Theater: The Jazz Stylings of Petra and Larry, 4:30 p.m. Friday
The BYOB event includes dinner and a performance featuring the soft-jazz stylings of Petra van Nuis and Larry Harris. Mather’s, 7134 W. Higgins Ave., Chicago. $16-$18.

7. One Night Stand, 7 p.m. Saturday
The performance, which benefits the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, celebrates famous one-hit wonders. Madison Street Theatre, 1010 Madison St., Oak Park. $20.

8. Make a Card for Grandparent’s Day, 10 a.m. Saturday
