The Chase Bank branch on Lake Street in Downtown Oak Park was robbed Tuesday afternoon.
About 1:39 p.m., a man robbed the bank at 1048 Lake St., according to FBI spokesman Joan Hyde. The lone suspect was described as an “older” black man between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9 with a medium build, and salt and pepper beard, wearing a hat and glasses, she said.
The man did not display a weapon, and no injuries were reported in the “non-takeover robbery,” Hyde said. The FBI and Oak Park police are investigating.
It was at least the 107th bank robbery in the area so far this year, according to the FBI. Last year there were 122, while the record was 284 in 2006.
