River Forest Collegiate Invitational Men’s D-1 Tennis, Sept. 12 – 14

UIC will once again host the River Forest Collegiate Invitational for men’s tennis. Here are the details:

Exciting Division 1 men’s tennis returns to River Forest with eight talented teams participating in the 5th annual River Forest Collegiate Invitational coming Friday – Sunday, Sept. 12 – 14. The primary site and sponsor for the event is the River Forest Tennis Club, 615 Lathrop Ave., River Forest, with the secondary site being the Oak Park Tennis Center, 544 N. Harlem, River Forest.

Matches begin at 9 a.m. each day at both clubs and continue all day on Friday & Saturday with Sunday’s action concluding by approximately noon. Anyone who is a tennis player or fan will enjoy the opportunity to see great clay court tennis up close in this event that is completely free and open to the public.

This year’s Invitational adds two new teams, Xavier University from Cincinnati and the Big East Conference, and Western Michigan University from Kalamazoo and the Mid-American Conference. They will join six returning teams that include: Belmont University (Nashville, Ohio Valley), Butler University (Indianapolis, Big East), Morehead State (Morehead, KY, Ohio Valley), Northern Illinois University (Dekalb, MAC), University of Illinois-Chicago (Chicago, Horizon) and Youngstown State University (Youngstown, OH, Horizon). UIC is also the host school for the event.

Friday is a day of singles with the first round played in the morning and the second in the afternoon. Saturday begins with the third round of singles, then concludes with two rounds of doubles in the afternoon. Sunday morning will start with the third and final round of doubles and immediately be followed by the fourth round of singles, which is only open to players who won at least two of their first three previous singles matches.
