Man robs Oak Park bank, hops into car with getaway driver

A man with a getaway driver robbed a west suburban bank Monday afternoon, getting away with about $3,000.

The robber entered the Metropolitan Bank branch in the 600 block of North Harlem Avenue in Oak Park about 4:45 p.m. with a note implying he had a gun and demanding cash, according to Oak Park police and the FBI.

The robber the ran out with about $3,000, and got into a waiting vehicle driven by another man, police said. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as a 27- to 29-year-old Hispanic man, between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-9, 175 pounds, with black hair, authorities said. He was wearing a striped polo shirt and a Chicago Bulls hat.

The driver was described as a Hispanic man 28 to 30, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with black hair, a large build and wearing glasses with black frames, according to police.
