River Forest Library will host a Musical Celebration with Jeanie B on July 31.

It will be a real family Musical Celebration with Jeanie B!, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31 in the River Forest Public Library front garden, 735 Lathrop Ave. The award-winning singer, musician and songwriter will be backed by sons Joey, 15, on bass and Bill, 13, on drums.

A portion of the show will be dedicated to the library’s summer reading program, “Fizz, Boom, READ!”

“We’ll do an experiment with baking soda and vinegar,” Jeanie B! said. “I’ll show the kids how to make CO2.” Some audience members will don goggles and gloves to help. “Then I’ll do a song called ‘CO2,” she said.

For the “Boom, READ!” part, Jeanie B will read “Green Eggs and Ham” while her drummer and bass player provide a beat.

The dance party portion will feature the Jeanie B! song, “Dance Party Every Night.” “I always conclude with my signature song, ‘Bubble Wrap,’” Jeanie B reported. Audience members accompany her by stomping on the stuff.
