Friends of the Oak Park Public Library host their 44th Annual Book Fair Friday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 2. The fair takes place in the south cafeteria at Oak Park and River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville Ave., Oak Park. Friday’s hours are 6 to 10 pm, with an admission cost of $5 per person, and $5 per electronic device.
Saturday’s hours are 9 am to 5 pm, and admission is free. One of the largest in the area, the fair typically offers more than 100,000 books in every conceivable category, from Cooking to Collectibles, sorted for easy browsing and shopping.
With funds raised, the Friends of the Oak Park Public Library help support programming like Fizz Boom Read, Oak Park Public Library’s summer reading program for kids birth through grade 6, and present free, engaging events including the annual Barbara Ballinger Lecture and a Folk Music Concert Series. Donations of books, records, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, and audiobooks in sellable condition can be dropped directly at the Scoville entrance of the high school from July 18 through July 28.
Volunteers are welcome to help sort materials for the fair. Sorting hours will take place July 18 through 28; weekdays from 1-4 pm and 7-9 pm, and 10 am to 2 pm Saturdays and Sundays, at Oak Park and River Forest High School. Volunteers are welcome to just show up, or call 708.445.6260 for additional information.
