The director of public safety for Concordia University in River Forest was arrested last week after allegedly committing a lewd act inside the office of a school employee.
Tim Margis, 38, of 13910 S. King Road, Homer Glen, is accused of masturbating inside an empty school office on the night of Feb. 10 and ejaculating into a shoe belonging to the female employee who works there, said River Forest Deputy Police Chief Jim O’Shea.
According to police, the employee reported seeing Margis exit her office around 9:30 p.m. while buttoning up his pants and fastening his belt. When the woman confronted Margis about what he was doing in her office, he allegedly stated that he was checking the room because the door had been left open.
Police said that after Margis left, the employee discovered a “clear liquid” inside one of her shoes, which had been left in the office.
Detectives interviewed Margis on Feb. 12 at his home and he later admitted to entering the office and committing a lewd act there, police said.
Margis was charged with public indecency and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanor charges.
O’Shea said there was no relationship between Margis and the victim. Police have also received no other allegations made against Margis, he added.
Police did not indicate if the employee is a professor at the university or a staff member.
Eric Matanyi, spokesman for Concordia University Chicago, said the school learned of Margis’ arrest as soon as it was reported by police on Feb. 12.
“At that point the employee was suspended and banned immediately from campus,” Matanyi said. “We cooperated fully with the investigation and he was terminated on Feb. 13 for misconduct, less than 24 hours later.”
It was not immediately known how long Margis had worked for the university.
