A Chicago woman was charged with home invasion after she allegedly broke into a relative’s home in Oak Park and attacked the relative over a child custody dispute.
Oak Park police responded to a call of a residential burglary at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 18 on the 400 block of N. Oak Park Avenue.
Lavona King, 36, of 2739 W. Hirsch, Chicago, allegedly forced her way into the home and threatened to kidnap one of King’s children. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has placed the child in temporary custody of that relative.
King then allegedly struck the victim with a wrench and threatened to kill her. The victim was eventually able to subdue King and call police.
King was charged with felony home invasion, and was released after paying 10 percent of a $5,000 D bond.
